SERVING OUR HUSBANDS FIRST

"For whether is greater, he
that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? Is not he that sitteth at
meat? But I am among you as He that serveth." Luke 22:26
These words spoken by Christ
Jesus Himself clearly reveal His serving spirit. He Who is King of all
Kings and worthy since before birth to be served in every way. it is HE
"that serveth". He who is the greatest saying that even though it is the
ones being served considered greater. He Himself serves them.
This should show us that we
are called to serve others as better than ourselves. There are many ways
of serving others but we are going to focus for now on serving in and of
our homes.
"These words spake Jesus, and
lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, 'Father, the hour is come;
glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given
him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as
thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee
the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:1-3
We were born to glorify the
Lord. Each and every plan and purpose set out before us comes from this
great truth. Our lives should glorify God. Does this include our homes?
Our home life? Our homemaking, home keeping, home care, and home
anything else? Yes. This would fall in with the "everything" mentioned
in the line above.
For today, may we look at the
work and play in our homes under His beautiful light. We can do all
things through Him and no "thing" is too small or too large for Him.
When we work from His love... we will glorify Him. Let us ask of every
thought, every spoken word, and every action taken... will this ---at
this moment --- bring glory to my Lord? Go forth according to the answer
He gives within. If the answer is no abandon it immediately and seek
until you find something that will. If the answer is yes... proceed and
praise Him!
Sometimes we look at the work
of our hands in our homes as earthly toil and tribulation but perhaps we
should see the truth...We should see that we are not serving the world
in this work and of this service but God. As we are serving our husbands
in Godly reverence and love, teaching and training our children in
righteousness, preparing meals, making beds, taking care of clutter,
washing dishes, doing laundry, sweeping, showing hospitality to others,
and more... may we do so by His grace and under His direction fully
aware that each of these things and more can glorify HIM if we put HIM
first. If we seek HIM from start to finish, from beginning to end, in
failure and in success.
May the homes all glorifying
God this day shine as bright as stars and send out a fragrance more
lovely than we ever have!
"For we know that if our
earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of
God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." II
Corinthians 5:1
