To the church family and friends:
Well I have been praying
for many months about
going preaching at one
of the many Mosques
around Tarkwa.
One
in particular that I
pass on my way to town
always catches my
attention because of the
group of guys who are
frequently sitting out
in front.
I
didn’t want to be
foolish and collect
unnecessary persecution,
most have advised us to
stay away because
“sometimes they are
violent!”
Well
today I really had this
particular Mosque at the
Tarkwa-Naboso junction
on my heart and decided
I would just walk past
and let the Lord lead.
Well one of them greeted me in the local language and to his surprise I answered him back! --That was enough of an open door for me!
They were all slowly gather out front for 3pm prayer, but the Lord gave me a good 30 minutes of time to witness to the group that kept growing and growing around me!
A little unnerving at times but the Lord went before.
They asked me first where I came from and what I was doing in Ghana.
I told them I was born an American but have since been born again, so now I am not an American but a son of God on my way to heaven, and I was sent by Jesus to preach the Gospel in Ghana. They weren’t exactly fond of Americans so they liked that answer!!
We reasoned about righteousness for some time, it became clear Muhammad could not promise them righteousness and with that neither could they be sure of heaven—quite the opposite. They were interested in Jesus offer of righteousness and forgiveness of sin—past and present. (The whole basis of the 5 prayers a day is for repeated pleading for forgiveness.)
They asked me if the Christians they see in Ghana were true Christian. After a brief explanation of Jesus, the path he walked, the love he showed and all the things he did on earth--and the obvious requirements of one of his followers--they agreed that most of the Christians here weren’t true. In turn I asked them if the Muslims who hijacked those planes and crashed them into the towers were true Muslims. They all readily agreed they were true Muslims..
The
contrast was striking
and they promised they
would think more about
it.
The
time came for them to
pray and they invited me
to join them..
I
declined but they
invited me back anyway
to talk more;)
Please continue to pray! The Lord is giving us liberty that few experience!
We trust by God’s grace and mercy many of these Muslims will be saved soon!
God bless you all!! --tim
